Caring for Your Reborns: The Do's and the Don'ts

Whether vinyl or silicone, here are some quick and easy do's and don'ts to protect your fragile and unique piece of art. 

Support the Head and Limbs

*Do: Always support the head when lifting

*Do: Hold the weighted limbs

*Don't: Grab by the head or limbs

*Don't: Swing or dangle the doll

Be Gentle

*Do: Handle softly, like a newborn

*Do: Dress with loose clothing

*Don't: Force clothes over the head and limbs

*Don't: Let little children play roughly

Cleaning: Vinyl vs Silicone

Vinyl:

*Do: Use a damp cloth or q-tip for dust or creases

*Don't: Scrub, soak, or use baby wipes

Silicone:

*Do: Rinse lightly with lukewarm water

*Don't: Use soaps, chemicals, or alcohol

Hair Care:

Painted hair: Avoid scratches

Rooted hair:

Do: Lightly mist with water

Don't: Pull, submerge, or use heat tools

Clothing vs Accessories

Do: Wash new blankets and clothes before using

Do: Layer white onesie under darker clothes

Don't: Use unwashed dark fabrics

Don't: Leave reborns wrapped in dark material

Storage

Do: Keep in a cool, shaded area

Do: Cover with breathable fabrics if storing

Don't: Leave in hot cars, in direct sunlight, or damp basements

Don't: Store in sealed plastic bags

Extra Care for Silicone

Do: Powder with silicone safe matting powder or cornstarch

Do: Handle carefully, supporting the body

Don't: Stretch fingers and mouth

Don't: Force pacifiers in their mouth
